As the holiday party season gets in full swing it is also time to evaluate our marketing efforts for the past year. What worked, where do we need to improve, what new systems do we need to put in place?
The first question for many people is where do we start? How do we evaluate our efforts? In an ideal world, you can take out the goals that you wrote down last December and compare where you hoped to be and where you are. In a future post we will discuss what to do now if you did that task last year and even better, if you updated those goals all year as you reevaluated each month.
We are going to start this series however, by discussing what you can do if you did not write down your goals last December, how and where do you start.
The first step to evaluating your marketing efforts is to write down each area that you used to market. Follow the list below and put the areas that you tried on a piece of paper or into a spread sheet if you like that better.
- Social Media (We will have a separate checklist for this)
- Networking in Person
- Direct Mail
- Trade Shows
- Promotional Products and Gifts
- Advertising – Print, Radio, TV
- Advertising – Online/Digital
Now that you have the basic list for your business, let’s begin to take some time to add the details, for example did you run a PPC campaign for your website, mark that down under website, SEO efforts for your website, mark that down. Advertising, mark down the channels that you used and the types of campaigns.
Next time we will share the Social Media checklist and then we will begin the process of evaluating where to go from here to reach our goals next year. Along the way we will also talk about motivating the team who will help you get where you want to be, and rewarding those who helped you this past year.
If you need help in creating your list, you can contact us for one on one consulting, and take advantage of our end of year offer for a special one hour strategy session
